Thomas Livingston
Thomas Livingstone was born in 1967 in Tarrytown, New York, and moved with his family to Colorado shortly thereafter. Growing up in the mountains sparked a lifelong appreciation for history, light, and landscape. He attended the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California, before returning to Colorado to open his photography gallery in 2011. From 2012 to 2019 Thomas devoted seven years to documenting the mining legacy of the San Juan Mountains in black and white. The project culminated in Historic Treasures of the San Juan Mountains, a photo series and published book that preserves the region’s historic mines, weathered structures, and relics of a bygone era. His work blends artistry and preservation, offering a timeless glimpse into Colorado’s mining heritage. His photography has been shown in galleries and art centers throughout the state.
