Quilting: Georgia’s Heavenly Stars!
With Ronnie Ashford
July 19 - 25, 2026
Georgia O’Keeffe loved the red and gray hills of Ghost Ranch, and the glorious night skies. She would climb onto the top of her house and lay on the roof and watch the night skies. So, let’s join Georgia in creating a few quilted stars.
All skill levels of quilters are welcome, even those “brand new, never have sewn a stitch want to try it out quilters”. Star Blocks offer certain challenges, and many quilters shy away from patterns with star blocks in them. Sharp points are essential for a star block, and this course will provide you with tips, techniques and shortcuts to give your stars crisp points, matching seams and blocks that lay flat. Instruction and guidance will be provided for all the components involved in making a quilt. We will learn how to cut accurately, sew a 1/4" quilter’s seam, match seams, keep the points, how to design and draft quilt blocks and quilt layout possibilities. Together we will share some of the newest tools of the trade along with practical tips, resources, and techniques from fellow quilters. There will be ‘Star Patterns’ aplenty available from beginner to expert, depending on your skill level and guidance to help you create your own wall hanging, snuggle quilt, or an art piece. Best of all let’s create memories and new friendships as we quilt together.
