Plein Air Pastel Sketching
With Juliana Crownover
July 12 - 18, 2026
Plein Air Sketching in Pastel Come paint on location the glorious landscapes of Ghost Ranch! All levels of experience are welcome.
Through demonstration and individual instruction, you will be guided through a process that builds confidence and joy in painting outdoors.
We’ll begin with watercolor underpaintings to establish luminous foundations, then develop each piece with pastel pencil and soft pastel, capturing the rich colors of the mesas, sunsets, and O’Keeffe’s red hills. You’ll learn how to capture the changing light through value, color, and composition while deepening your connection to the landscape.
Classes are structured with enough direction to ensure success and enough freedom to allow for creative expression.
