This beginner-friendly photography class is the perfect starting point for anyone interested in learning how to take better pictures—especially portraits. Whether you’re using a DSLR, mirrorless camera, or even a smartphone, you’ll learn the foundational skills needed to take control of your camera and create more intentional, striking images.

We’ll start by covering the basics: photography terminology, camera settings like aperture, shutter speed, and ISO, and how these elements affect your photos. Then we’ll dive into the fundamentals of portraiture—lighting, composition, and simple posing techniques that bring out the best in your subjects.

Throughout the class, you’ll have plenty of hands-on opportunities to practice, both indoors and outdoors. You’ll work with a live model and receive guidance from an experienced instructor every step of the way. There will also be time to share your images, ask questions, and receive helpful feedback in a supportive, collaborative environment.

By the end of this class, you’ll feel more confident using your camera, understand how to compose a great portrait, and be equipped with the tools to continue growing as a photographer. No prior experience is necessary—just bring your curiosity and creativity!
