Collage and Painting
With Suzanne Sbarge
September 27 - October 3, 2026
Collage has a rich history and is used by contemporary artists around the world today. It can be a liberating and adventurous way of working that is full of surprises, guided by intuition and the unconscious. Collage is often associated with the Dada movement (born in Europe during World War I), which is known for disrupting logic and defying aesthetic categories.
In this spirit, we will play, experiment, and get familiar with techniques of combining collage and painting. We will use water-based paints and work with new and old collage materials – spanning vintage imagery to the ephemera of contemporary life – to explore diverse styles and directions from narrative to abstract.
All skill levels are welcome. Some collage and painting materials will be provided, and participants are encouraged to bring their own collage materials to add to the mix.
